Search Engine Optimization
What is SEO? Search Engine Optimization (SEO) helps people find your Web site when they use search engines like Google or Bing. There are certain basic things that will help your site get better search results. The first is to have an honest site that represents your company or organization accurately. Next is consistency of keywords, titles, and content, and choosing keywords that your target audience is most likely to use.
Does SEO work? Yes, it is an important part of helping your target audience find your Web site, and it does improve your presence on the Web. It is a way of making your pages more easily interpreted by the search engines. If the search engines can identify your site for the things it really is about, they can better recommend it to people searching for those things.
Does optimizing your site guarantee that it will be the top search result within days or weeks of making the changes? Unlike the self-proclaimed experts who inundate all our email boxes with wild claims, I do not guarantee ridiculous unreasonable results. Your parents probably told you, 'If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.' That applies accurately to search engine optimization.
Google optimization isn't a science, unfortunately-- it's an art. Even Google's own Web page on which they give SEO advice does not guarantee results, even if you follow their recommendations. Also, you can not expect instant results. However when SEO is applied well your site will steadily rise in the search results over time.
What You Get: When I work on your site I will recommend optimal keywords and meta titles, consistency of wording and content, location info, branding, and so on. I may also recommend changes to the URL of a page. And I can recommend things you can do on an ongoing basis that will eventually bring the site up in the rankings.
I either provide you with a list of changes to make to your site, or, if you can give me administrative access to your site, I will make the changes directly. I can also make a site map for your site (this is not one that users see – it is a special format used behind the scenes by Google to help it find the pages on your site). Pricing depends on what you want, how many pages on your site are to be optimized, and how your site is constructed. Contact me for an estimate on optimizing your Web site. Be sure to send me your site address so I can look it over.
If you opt for the list you will receive a list of changes that should be made in the code of each Web page on your site. If you want me to make the changes directly you will receive the list as well, as an accounting of what changes I have made.
